Yes! In clinical studies there have been NO adverse reactions, injuries, disabilities or known side effects associated with laser treatment. Unlike oral nail fungus medications on the market today for fungal toenails, there are NO risks to the liver or kidneys. There are no age or health restrictions or limitations.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The average procedure takes 20-30 minutes. This includes reducing the thickness of the nail plate, (which also is painless). After the nail is thinned, the Nail Fungus Laser procedure is started. Feel free to bring an ipod or something to read during the procedure.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
This question depends on the severity of the fungal case. According to research, a single treatment is not the best option for the patient. Dr. Nordyke recommends at least 2 treatments; however, treatment plans will be individualized for each patient.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY VISIT?
Remove all polish, lotions, and skin care products, making certain the skin of the foot and nail bed are completely dry prior to visit/treatment.
IS THIS PROCEDURE COVERED BY INSURANCE?
The Toenail Laser procedure is considered cosmetic, and therefore is not a covered insurance procedure.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
Each person and case is different; however it has been most common in Dr. Nordyke’s practice that you can resume to your normal activities immediately after treatment. It is important to know that a comprehensive plan to prevent reoccurrence is critical to your long term success and you will leave the office with those preventive measures for home care.
IS THERE A COST FOR THE CONSULTATION?
No, there is not a charge for the initial consultation. At the initial visit, Dr. Nordyke will go trough and thoroughly discuss your individual case and the procedure with you, photographs of the nails will be taken at that time, and the procedure can then be scheduled.
WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT COST?
Costs are between $450.00 and $1,500.00 depending on the number and severity of toes infected. This cost includes up to 3 treatments, 1 month apart.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
On average, a toenail will replace itself approximately every 6 months. Healthy new growth will be visible within the first month as your nails continue to grow following the laser treatment. Your Nails will appear clear, thinner, and most importantly free of infection. These improvements will continue to increase with each treatment.
